MORLO sells majority shares to the LAFITTE Group

After over 70 years, the company Morlo GmbH has sold its majority shares to the French group “Lafitte”.

With the new combined expertise and the resulting synergies, we will strengthen our market position for the long term.

Our product portfolio will be extended and, at the same time, the reliability of supply to our customers will continue to be guaranteed.

About the Lafitte Group:

The name LAFITTE shares a strong history with the world of cork.

The first manufacturing workshop for LAFITTE cork stoppers was founded in the south west of France in 1918.

It is the same company that, many years later, would welcome the capsule plant COLIEGE METALCO EMBALLAGES.

For more than five generations now, the LAFITTE family has been working on the development of their activities in the service of the wine industry. Thus, in 1956, a plant was also founded in Portugal in order to have better control of the raw material.

In 1982, LAFITTE CORK AND CAPSULES was opened in Napa, California to meet the growing demand on the North American market.

In the years 2001 and 2009, LAFITTE CHILE CORCHOS Y CÁPSULAS was founded in order to provide a local supply of corks and capsules to the South American market.

With the integration of the company M.M.CANALS (a traditional capsule manufacturer for the Spanish market) and the purchase of the Italian company "Natural Cork" (today LAFITTE  ITALIA) in 2017, the company’s presence in Spain and Italy was consolidated with a final processing workshop and the trading network was strengthened.

In 2020, RCP International SA, a company specialising in the manufacture of BAR-TOPS, was acquired and

LAFITTE BARTOP evolved from this.

We are delighted to be able to open up a new perspective with the Lafitte Group!

Best regards, Charles Braun / Managing Director
